4.0 out of 5 stars Live After Deaf (Digital Boxset), July 5, 2012

"Live After Deaf" was released as a very limited boxset of 15 LP's, each containing selections from a particular show on the 2011 European tour. Each record is not a complete set, and the vinyl included setlists that show which songs are not included. This is the digital version of the set. I wouldn't recommend buying the whole thing, unless you are a digital completeist. I will say that the recordings are phenomenal. The issue is, there are songs he played 6 out of the 15 nights, that you don't need multiple versions of. I would go through the shows and either purchase the best ones (usually $8.99 each) or pick your favorite songs from all the shows.

This was originally offered for under $9 (the same price as the separate shows) which was obviously an oversight by amazon. At the current moment, the digital boxset is about $108.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for die hard Ryan Adams fans, July 2, 2012

This review is from: Live After Deaf (Collection) (MP3 Music)
The writeup from the Pax-Am records site describes "Live After Deaf" the best:

"Following a break from live performance that lasted several years, Ryan Adams' return to the stage began with a 15-date European tour in June of 2011. Sandwiched between the recording of "Ashes And Fire" and the album's release, the tour featured Adams performing solo acoustic with setlists featuring tracks from across his career - from Whiskeytown through his early solo work and his albums with The Cardinals and his then-unreleased material from "Ashes and Fire"...allowing him to reconnect with his fans and stretch out within his own catalogue."

With that said, this 174-track collection of high-quality recordings from this solo acoustic tour is an absolute requirement for the Ryan Adams fan who has everything. Showing maturity and a wisdom that only comes with age and experience, Adams sings with a lovely tenderness. Songs from "Heartbreaker" are performed with a well-worn patina and... Read more

    5.0 out of 5 stars archive.org, August 30, 2012
I love Ryan Adams. I was fortunate enough to see and meet him in Eugene Or last October. Top notch show and wondeful person as well. The $130 box set now goes for $500 plus on ebay, dammit! Anyway I really hope you are aware of archive.org. There, artists allow taped shows to be shared for free as long as they are not sold in turn. Ryan has a tremendous amount of free live music available there. These shows are probably not going to be there, but it is a great place to get artist allowed recordings of live music. And it's free!
